In 2001, Eganville gained its first Youth Centre when a 48 ft. transport trailer/youth centre called "The Can" visited.  The trailer was parked outside the old fire hall on John Street for a period of one month.  The Can provided an opportunity for youth of Bonnechere Valley and surrounding area to take part in after school programs, sports and out of town trips.

The Can left Eganville, and was brought back by popular demand for another 1 month period.  The parents and youth of the town soon realized the importance of having a facility for youth to call their own and they opened the Bonnechere Valley Youth Centre in its first home, the old Fire Hall.
In 2005, , the Youth Centre moved to its new (and current home) at the Legion Field.  In 2007 the Youth Centre which was at that time directed by the Killaloe Resource Centre closed its doors. In 2008, a local Board of parents and concerned individuals organized the new Bonnechere Valley Youth Activity Centre (BVYAC) to  provide activities and programming to youth aged 12-18 and offer a wide range of activities such as dances, movie nights, homework help and out of town trips.  The Youth Activity Centre (BV YAC) also runs a canteen open to the public during summer hours.

In the Autumn of 2009, thanks to a grant from Hydro One, the BV YAC building was insulated to allow for year-round usage.  The BVYAC is currently open Tuesday through Friday 3:30 pm - 8 pm. – unless we are holding off-site activities!

We are located on Foran Street, in Eganville adjacent to the soccer fields and the curling club.  Check out the rest of our site to meet our team, ask questions, become a member or volunteer and participate in activities! Hope to see you all soon!
